True North to assume hospitality services at Canada Life Centre and the Burton Cummings Theatre

As part of True North Sports + Entertainment’s commitment to elevating experiences in all facets of its operations, True North Sports will launch TN Hospitality to offer food & beverage services at Canada Life Centre and the Burton Cummings Theatre effective September 1, 2024. This move adds to True North’s successful hospitality operations at hockey for all centre and Camp Manitou.

True North remains appreciative and grateful for the expertise and collaboration of longtime food and beverage partner Sodexo Live! (formerly Centerplate), which, as part of the global Sodexo Live! family, is a leader in event and venue hospitality. Sodexo Live! (Sodexo), and the people who have served in True North’s venues, have played an instrumental role in the opening of Canada Life Centre in 2004 and in serving guests for nearly two decades.

This strategic enhancement will leverage synergies among other operational teams to continue improving upon all aspects of guest experience at Canada Life Centre and the Burton Cummings Theatre. True North looks forward to continuing to work with many local Sodexo employees and anticipate many transitioning their employment to True North.

Beginning June 24, Ian Vickers will lead the start-up and ongoing operations of TN Hospitality as Vice President, Hospitality. Vickers is a seasoned leader in the hospitality industry with a demonstrated history of creating and implementing sustainable systems. For the past 11 years, Vickers has led Diversity Foods, which operates food services at the University of Winnipeg and Fort Whyte Alive, as well as providing catering services to the Manitoba Museum and the Royal Aviation Museum of Western Canada, among other venues. Vickers has worked with and led hospitality teams offering quick service, premium service and catering in arena, theatres, restaurant other public assembly settings. As a proud Manitoban, Vickers’ alignment with True North’s vision, mission, and values makes him the Ideal leader to guide TN Hospitality in serving the community.

Employees joining the True North team will immediately transfer employment once TN Hospitality assumes operations on September 1.
